The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from around the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate one female and one male student athlete from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
GCC February Athletes Of The Month
All GCC Bowler who finished 2nd in the conference in total pins, and 3rd in avg. Anthony’s highest game this season was a 259 and his highest series bowled was a 584.At the OHSAA Gymnastics State Meet this past weekend Jordyn had a record setting performance. On Friday, she helped lead the Blue Devils to a State Runner-Up Team finish! Then on Saturday, Jordyn finished the individual competition as the 2020 OHSAA All-Around State Champion! Jordyn was also State Champion on Bars, Beam and Floor Exercise. Jordyn finished Runner-Up on Vault. At the GCC Championships Jordyn was named GCC MVP, she finished first in the All-Around, Floor Exercise, and Bars. This year Jordyn set the school record for scores on Bars (9.575), Vault (9.65), Floor Exercise (9.625), Beam (9.675) and All-Around (38.325).Mick is 19-0 in Team State Duals. He had a huge win at the State dual meet. Mick was the Greater Cleveland Conference Champion in the 138-pound weight class. He is a two time GCC Conference Champion!Enrique earned his 100th career win at the Regional Team Duals. He also had a clutch win in the State Team Dual Semi-Finals against Brecksville.Freddy always has a positive attitude and comes to practice ready to work. Freddy is always willing to help his teammates get better by setting a good example of a strong work ethic.Matt was the Greater Cleveland Conference Champion in the 145-pound weight class.Colleen is having a great freshman season thus far. She won the all-around and uneven bars in her high school debut and has been a solid all around gymnast since then. At this year’s GCC Championship Meet, Colleen finished second in the All-Around, second on Beam, and third on Vault earning herself All-Conference honors on Bars, Beam, and All-Around.Luke had two big GCC games in hitting key free throws down the stretch on the road at Shaker Heights as well as the buzzer beating 3 pointer to defeat Medina at home. Luke’s current stats are 18.9 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game, and 2.5 steals per game.Recently named the GCC Bowler of the Year! Emma finished 7th overall at OHSAA Sectionals. For the season, Emma made the all-tournament team in four out of five tournaments, including winning the Eagle Challenge bowling a 636 series.Jake was the Greater Cleveland Conference Champion in the 160-pound weight class.Hailey is a junior captain on the Solon GCC Championship Team! This season Hailey is averaging 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.Sam is a loyal, hard-working teammate who is averaging 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 charges taken per game.Reagan is averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds per game. Reagan recently became the Lady Mustangs All-Time Leading Scorer!
