Greater Cleveland Conference January Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from around the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate one female and one male student athlete from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Tre currently leads Medina County in scoring at 22 ppg. Had games of 41 & 33 while in Erie Pa. and broke the school record for 3 pt. FG’s in a game with 11.
Helped Girls Basketball team to 3 GCC victories against Strongsville (16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists), Shaker Heights (12 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists) & Elyria (24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists)
Hunter joined the bowling team for the first time this year after just learning how to bowl this summer! He bowled his highest series 499 (254, 245) on January 7th vs Solon. His average in the GCC is a 177 and he is at a 93% mark ratio in Baker games.
Riley was recently ranked No. 1 in girls wrestling rankings at 101 lbs. She has wrestled 20 matches on the Varsity Red Team and will be participating in the inaugural Ohio Girl’s State Tournament, which is being sanctioned by the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association. The event will take place Feb. 22-23 at Hilliard Davidson High School.
La’Ron Parks has 26 wins 1 loss and 23 pins. Titan Classic Champion, Red Bird Champion, Matatuchi Classic Champion, and Runner up Painesville Rumble.
2 year varsity starter – 2 year Captain – Member of the National Honor Society – Hard working, disciplined, and committed to excelling in the classroom and on the court.
Kyle is averaging 17.8 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 3.1 steals per game. He is shooting 37% from behind the 3 point arc. Kyle finished with a career-high 32 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over Mentor. He also had 21 points and 8 rebounds in a tough loss to Shaker Heights.
Averaged 15.0 points per game over 5 games, plus 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.8 steals while also defending the opposing team’s top player. For the season, she is averaging 14.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 steals, 1.7 blocks and shoots very efficiently (53.4% FG, 40.0% 3FG, 85.7% FT%). Chad is averaging 20.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He has 10 blocks on the season. Scored a career high 39 points in a game vs. Elyria. Chad signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Penn State University.
Miranda recently won her senior Night meet which was also a league meet against Strongsville and Solon. In Mentor’s biggest invitational of the year against all the powerhouse teams, Miranda won the Balance Beam event with a PR of 9.55 and also came in the top 6 overall! She placed 4th on the beam and vault at the state meet as a sophomore. Was injured her junior year and unable to compete.
Ryan took 1st place at the GCC Championship meet in the 100 Backstroke with a time of :55.93 and 3rd place in the 50 Freestyle with a time of :22.54. He was also on the 1st place 200 Medley team and on the 2nd place 200 Free Relays team.
Tara took 1st Place in the 1 Meter Diving Competition at the GCC Championship Meet.
Tristan is a selfless player who works hard and never complains. Outstanding student and teammate!
After missing her entire freshman year due to ankle injuries, Brooke has returned to competition form as a leader on the Strongsville High School Gymnastics team. Regularly competing in the all-around, Brooke has been the top all around finisher at our last two competitions, including finishing third in a Quad meet with Mentor. She has added top level difficulty into all of her routines and has proved to be a dependable leader for the mustangs. Her top scores include season high 8.3 on bars (2nd vs mentor), 9.15 on vault, 8.45 on floor, 8.5 on beam and a 33.7 in the all-around. Brooke has had 12 out of 14 scores contribute to the team score thus far this season.
