Greater Cleveland Conference April Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

13 games into the season as a freshman Madison broke the school triples record with 7. The previous record was tied at 6. She is also hitting .590 with a .953 slugging percentage. She has been a great leader on and off the field for the Mustangs. Madison also has contributed defensively in multiple positions throughout the season.
Ben has been a big part of the Mustangs success this season so far. During the past 4 games in the month of April, he scored 10 goals and 4 assists for a total of 14 points. He has been running our offense and players look to him for adjustments. Ben academically does very well and has very good grades in the classroom. Ben just signed his letter of intent to continue his lacrosse career at Otterbein University!
Anthony has hit cleanup for the Mustangs in nearly every game this year. Playing against excellent competition inside and outside of the GCC, in the month of April, Anthony hit .500 (18 for 36) with 13 BB and 6 HBP for a .673 OBP, with 3 doubles, 2 homers, 17 RBI, 13 R, and only 3 strikeouts. Anthony was also 5 for 6 stealing bases and had a .750 slugging percentage. Despite only being a junior, Anthony was elected as a team captain by his teammates. He starts every day, usually at 3B and occasionally at DH or 2B, he is a quiet leader whose words carry tremendous weight because he doesn’t speak often. Anthony’s teammates respect him immensely and on a team with several college commits, Anthony was our best offensive player for the month of April!
Jessica leads the Comets in hitting with a .609 batting average which includes 2 HRs, 5 Doubles, and 7 RBIs!
Jonny has been a tremendous leader this spring for the Comets Track Team. He has won 9 of 11 races and is undefeated in the 1600M with a personal best of 4:26.50!
Nia competes on the Comets 4×100 relay along with the state-ranked 4×200 and 4×400 relays. She has also scored for the Comets in each Invitational this season in the 100m Dash!
Aaron so far this season is batting .536 with 10 RBIs. He also has 3 starts at pitcher with 1 victory!
Through the 1st five games of the season, Cael has hit in each one. The Cardinals shortstop is batting .471 with a .500 on-base percentage. He has a double, 2 runs batted in, and has 4 stolen bases!
• Austintown Fitch Invite-won Long Jump, 100, 200, 400-Mentor Team 1st place finish • Brunswick Dual Meet-won Long Jump, 100, 200 on winning 4×4 team-Mentor Team won • North Canton Invite-won Long Jump, 100, 200, 400-Mentor Team 1st place finish -Solon Dual Meet-won Long Jump, 100, 200-Mentor Team Won • GlenOak Elite Meet-won Long Jump, 100, 200, 400 and was named meet MVP-Mentor Girls Team 1st place finish • Amherst Comet Relays-won the 100, Won the Long Jump relay, and broke the individual meet record longest jump, on winning the 4×400 team and the winning Sprint Medley Team that broke the meet record. • Elyria Dual Meet-Won Long Jump, 400 & 200 Currently has the best Long Jump in the state with 20’2.5″ which is the 6th best in the country, fastest 200M and 400M time in the state, and 2nd fastest 100m in the state. • Paige has a 3.7 GPA and is committed to the University of North Carolina for Track and Field!
The junior pitcher has 48 strikeouts on the season in 8 games including 4 GCC wins. At the plate, she is batting .375 with 8 runs batted in!
Kenny has had great success early this track season. He finished 1st in the 400 at the Austintown Fitch early meet with a time of 51.44. In a dual meet with Solon he won the 200 with a time of 22.76!
Kylie has pitched 52 innings on the season and has only allowed 13 earned runs with a 1.73 ERA along with 86 strikeouts. She is also hitting .333 with a .548 on-base percentage. Kylie pitched every inning at the Prebis Memorial Classic to help the team go 3-0 on the weekend. They defeated two state-ranked teams and another strong D1 program!
So far on the season, Connor has 24 Goals, 15 assists, 61% F/O, 91 GBs and 12 Caused Turnovers. He is a two-way, do it all midfielder and has a great work ethic, phenomenal leadership skills and shows incredible sportsmanship. He is a perfect representative for the Bees Lacrosse program and Medina High School!
So far on the season, Jackie has 48 goals, 17 assists, 71 draw controls, and 7 caused turnovers. She has helped lead the team to a 10-3 record overall and another GCC title. She will be playing lacrosse next year at Coastal Carolina University!
Ryan is the starting Fullback for the Varsity team. Miller is the leading scorer for the Bees tallying 49 points through the first 5 matches of the season scoring 4 tries, 13 conversion kicks, and 1 penalty kick.
Ty is leading the Panthers with a .319 batting average. He also has 10 outfield assists on the season while playing in center field!
Alexis is in her first year of throwing the shot put and she is consistently throwing 40 feet. She has not finished any lower than 3rd in any of the Panthers attend meets this year!
Alexis is a member of our 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 meter relay teams that are currently ranked highly in the state. Alexis is also one of the top 400m runners. She has her sights set on the State meet with her relays team as well as her open events. She also carries a 3.4 GPA enrolled in honors classes.
Serina placed 1st in the 100m Hurdles at the Midview Shipwreck Invitational, the Artie Miller Invitational and at the Mentor Duals. She placed second at the LCAAA. In the 330m Hurdles she placed 1st at the Artie Miller Invitational and the Mentor Duals. She placed 2nd at the Midview Shipwreck Invitational.
Matt finished 3rd at Second Singles in the LCAAA Invitational!
Perryion placed 1st in the 110m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles events at the LCAAA Invitational!
Andrew was the Runner up in the 100m Dash at the Artie Miller Invitational and is also a member of the winning 4 x 100m relay team!
In the month of April, Sean had a .358 BA, 3 2Bs, 19 RBIs, 8 Rs. Sean is also one of the Blue Devils Starting pitchers. In the month of April Sean was 3-0 with a .472 ERA, and 35 strikeouts!
Ashley is the leading scorer on the team for the Blue Devils with 38 goals on the season. Her shooting percentage is 85% and she also has 9 assists on the season.
Tomas broke two school records recently! He broke the school record in the Discus at the Strongsville Elite Meet with a throw of 183’1″. He also broke the school record in the Shot Put vs. Mentor with a throw of 61’1″.
In the month of April, Maddie had a .500 batting average, 4 singles, 1 double, 1 triple, 9 RBIs and 3 walks!
