The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
GCC August Athletes Of The Month
After a 20-6 campaign last year predominately at second singles, Amelia has started off the 2021 season with a 6-1 record including victories over Wadsworth (6-1,6-0), Aurora (6-3, 6-1), and a victory in the first round of the OTCA match vs Howland (6-54, 6-0).
Jada is a 4-year member of the Solon Cross Country team. She has finished first for Solon in their first 2 meets of the season. Jada is a 3-time Regional qualifier and working to duplicate her 2019 trip to the State Meet!
EJ has been one of the comet leaders on offense to start the season from the RB position. In his first 2 games, EJ is averaging 152 yards rushing, 72 yards receiving, and 3 TDs per game!
Emme leads the Mentor girls golf team with a 9 hole average of 45!
Louie leads the Mentor boys golf team with an 18 hole average of 87!
Riley opened up the season with a hat trick and an assist to help lead the Bees to a victory over Oregon Clay. She currently has 5 goals and 2 assists for 12 total points. The team is 5-0-1 to start the season!
Zach had a career-low 1-over-par 73 to lead Medina to its lowest team score of the year and a 3rd place finish at the Hudson Explorer Invitational. Zach led the Bees to victory at the 1st GCC Tournament of the season with a 3-over 75. Also shot a 76 to help the team win the Irish Invitational.
Kiera has led the Euclid Lady Panther Soccer team in the early season scoring 6 goals over the team’s first two games of the season. She also has 2 assists which is tied for the team lead.
Claishon is the leader on the offense. In the first two games of the season Claishon has tallied 222 all purpose yards and scored 3 touchdowns. He is averaging 5.82 yards per carry and 15 yards per reception.
Calista is a two sport fall athlete. In tennis, Calista is a senior captain, she has compiled a record of 5-1 only losing to a state qualifier so far in the season. While playing 1st singles she has played remarkably well and last month beat a very tough opponent at Avon. Calista also plays soccer and is a starting defender for the Blue Devils. She is also a senior captain! In the month of August, Calista helped lead the Blue Devils to three shut-out victories!
Alex is off to an incredible start this season for the Blue Devils. He is averaging a 37.4 through seven events, which is on pace to break the school average record. He also won the first GCC tournament of the season individually with a 73 at Grey Hawk. Alex has shot even par 72 twice so far this season, matching his career-best!
