GCC September Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Month of September Stats: • 57 Digs • 65 Kills • 4 Aces • 17 Blocks

In the month of September, Josh has 14 goals and 17 assists!

Team Captain that organizes the team together on the field, a vocal leader that encourages her teammates, and consistently shows improvement!

Has run the fastest times on the team with a Personal Best of 18:31 set at the Paul Primeau Invitational. He shows up to every practice and is a positive influence and leader among his teammates!

Makenzie became the first-ever MHS volleyball player to record 1,000 career assists and 1,000 career digs. She joins only one other person in Medina County history to accomplish this feat. Makenzie also holds school records for career aces and career digs. She has helped the varsity team to a 10-0 record in the month of September.

Brennen basically rewrote the MHS and Medina County record books for wide receivers in the month of September. He helped lead the Battling Bees to a 5-0 record this month while hauling in 39 receptions for 475 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brennen now holds the county record for career receptions with 172 and the county record for receiving yards with 2,546. Earlier in the season he broke the county record for receiving yards in a game with 293 and tied the county record for receptions in a game with 14.

Jill is the goalie on the soccer team. She currently has 3 shut-outs on the season and averages giving up 1 goal per game in the games she has played in. She just recently committed to Xavier University in Cincinnati!
Evan currently has 5 goals and 7 assists including a 3-goal game vs Cleveland Hts.

Niya is a 2-year captain and GCC Player of the Year on the Comets GCC Champion Tennis Team. Niya is heading into the OHSAA Tournament working to qualify for the state tournament for the 4th straight year.

Brian is a 2-year starter at WR. He is leading the Comets in receptions, yards, and receiving TDs.

Natalie had a great month of September with a 9-hole average of 38 and 18-hole average of 74. Natalie was Co-champ of the GCC as an individual in helping leading her team to back to back conference Championships!

Dean won 4 events this season (including the first 2 GCC Tournaments) and he ended as the 2022 Player of the Year for the GCC. Dean also won the Sectional tournament for the second year in a row, with a 73 at Grey Hawk GC in Lagrange, OH!
