GCC February Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Leyna qualified for the District meet in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, and the 200 Free Relay! Owen: At the OHSAA District Meet Owen placed 2nd in the 100 butterfly, securing an automatic qualification to the state championship, with a new team record time of 50.53.

Colleen helped lead the team to a share of the Greater Cleveland Conference Championship earlier in the month. She was awarded All-GCC honors for the All-Around, the Vault, the Uneven Parallel Bars, and the Floor Exercise. Colleen also qualified for the District Meet in those same events and earned All-District honors. The team will be competing in the State Meet this Friday and Colleen will be competing as an individual on Saturday in the following events: All-Around, Vault, and Uneven Parallel Bars. Blaine finished the season undefeated in the Greater Cleveland Conference. His record allowed him to earn All-GCC honors for the 175 pound weight class. Blaine also wrestled his way to a Sectional Championship at the Euclid Sectional and will be a #1 seed in his weight class at the Hoover District.

Angelina was runner up on the balance beam at Districts and is a state qualifier on the beam. Nick has a record of 46-3 with 24 pins and 129 takedowns on the season. He has 119 career wins

Bethany is a four year starter. This past season she was a GCC and District Champion along with finishing in Third Place at the State Meet. Dominic is a 3 year starter on our Diving Team. This season he has set pool records in meets here at Solon along with at Beachwood and Medina. He is a State Champion for the third year in a row.

Ashley finished 14th overall in the OHSAA State Diving competition and Nick finished 7th in the state in the 100 Yard Breaststroke!
