GCC March Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

In the month of March, Ashley had 3 games 14 goals 3 assists 10 ground balls 19 draw controls 5 caused turnovers! Will had 5 goals against Mentor and is also on of the team’s Assistant Captains!
Tyla is leading the team in batting average with .667 after 3 games. Her best game was against Lorain, when she went 2-2, with a double and 2 runs scored. Malachi is leading the team in kills (22), aces (16), and is second in blocks (9). He was a big part of our last two wins, with 12 aces against John Hay and the game-ending kill against Mentor.

Macy finished as State Runner-up on the Balance Beam. She also finished in 11th Place on the Uneven Parallel Bars at the State Meet. She competed in every event for Medina at the OHSAA State Team Meet. Macy was also selected to the All-Gazette team for the 2nd time in her career. Andrew finished in 3rd Place in the 175-pound weight class at the OHSAA Division I State Championships. He finished the season with a 51-4 record. His 51 victories broke the Medina single-season record for wins.

During Indoor Billy ran the following PR’s 800 1:59 1600 4:25 3200 9:23 Billy’s 2 mile is the fastest ever run indoor by a Mentor Athlete Billy ran 4:29 to open up his season at North Canton Hoover with a 3rd place finish Billy won the mile running 4:35 against GCC opponent Strongsville”

Talia has worked very hard this season to be one of the captains of our defense. Eric has led our team is scoring through our first 3 wins with 10 goals and 2 assists.

Oswal began the Spring 2023 GCC Season with a 3 set victory against Brunswick at second singles (6-4,4-6,6-2). In addition to beginning the conference season 1-0, he also picked up two noncoference victories over Berea-Midpark (6-3,6-2) and Twinsburg (6-4,6-2). Vinci was voted captain for our Attack/offense and has been a leader day in and day out. He has been a key piece of our offense and is typically guarded by the opponents best defensive player. Even with this Vinci has 27 goals, 6 assist with just playing 7 games so far. Vinci sets the pace and expatiations for our offense.
