GCC April Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Aaliyah: April Stats: Batting avg 556, Pitching 3-0, IP 16.1 innings, 4 BB, 11 SO, 2 HBP, 2.143 ERA. Jacob Mancini (month of April) 13 games .486 BA .537 OBP 1.212 OPS .676 SLG 18 Hs 4 2Bs 1 HR 15 RBIs 14 Rs and also had 3 SVs with 9 Ks in 5 IPs
Mia scored her 100th career goal on Senior Night and helped the varsity team clinch its 7th GCC title in a row. She has 36 goals and 6 assists this season for the Bees. She also has 15 draw controls, 9 ground balls, and 5 caused turnovers this season. Nate has helped lead the baseball team to its 2nd straight outright GCC title. He currently has a batting average of .490, a .639 on base percentage, and a 1.118 slugging percentage. He has 7 home runs on the season, 36 RBIs, and has scored 27 runs. Nate has been walked 19 times (many of those intentional) and has 10 stolen bases out of 10 attempts. This past week alone he went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 11 RBIs against Strongsville. He hit 2 home runs and had 7 RBIs in the same inning. Nate will attend Toledo next year to continue his baseball career.
While maintaining a 4.4 GPA in the classroom Kristin has led her team to 6-0 in the GCC. In 6 games she has 54 strike outs and only 1 walk with a 1.79 ERA. On the mound in 17 innings pitched Nick is 2-0 with a .32 ERA with 16 strikeouts. He is batting .300 with 5 RBI’s and 7 runs scored
Xander teamed up with doubles partner Marko Ostryk to take 2nd place at the GCC Tournament and earn a spot on the All Conference Team. During the month of April Xander was 5-3 at first doubles in dual matches. At the GCC Tournament, the first doubles team defeated Brunswick in the semi-finals 6-4,7-6 after losing a three set match to the Blue Devils earlier in the year. Other highlights include a 6-4,6-4 victory against a previously undefeated NDCL team and wins over Mentor (6-0,6-2), Medina (6-2,6-3), Lakewood (6-0,6-1), and North Olmsted (6-2,6-0).
