GCC May Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Olivia had a stellar sophomore season! At the OHSAA District Track Meet Olivia finished 2nd overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.56 and qualified for Regionals! In his 1st year throwing Discus Cole had a great season. At the GCC Championship meet Cole finished in 1st place with a throw of 136-07!
Dajanay placed 5th in the 100 Hurdles and 3rd as a part of the 4×200 Relay at the GCC Championship Meet. She also qualified for the Regional Finals in the 300 Hurdles. Lamonte placed 1st in the 100 and 200 Dash and 2nd as a part of the 4×200 relay at the GCC Championship Meet. He also qualified for the regional finals in the 100 Dash and as a part of the 4×100 relay.
At the GCC meet Kylie was Long Jump champion and finished 2nd in the 100 meter dash. At the district meet she was Long Jump runner up and finished 2nd in the 100 meter dash. Michael was the Mentor High Archie Griffin OHSAA Sportsmanship award winner. He was runner up in both the 1600m and 3200m at districts.
Alexis led the Solon team in hitting with a .735 average including 8 doubles and 4 triples plus 23 RBIs. Adam was one of the Comets team captains. He was their top starting pitcher throughout the season along with hitting .350.
Julia Isham became the Regional Champion and State Qualifier with another record-breaking performance of 10:24.65! Brandon is currently hitting .319 with a .520 on base percentage, 23 R, 14 RBI, 24 BB, 5 HBP, and 26 SB. He has 8 outfield assists defensively. On the mound, he is 1-2 with 5 saves, a 4.07 ERA and 16 K in 10.1 IP over 9 games.

Lauren won the Greater Cleveland Conference title and the District title in the 100m hurdles and also finished 2nd place in the Long Jump at both meets. She also finished 2nd place in the 100m hurdles at the Regional meet and qualified for the Division I State meet for the second time in her career. In the past 3 weeks, Tino has helped lead the Battling Bees to the Conference title, the District title, and the Regional title. He was named the Greater Cleveland Conference Track MVP with his performance at the GCC Championships. Tino finished in 1st place in the 800m run, 1600m run, and was part of the 2nd place 4×400 relay team. He also won the 800m run at the District meet and the Regional meet. He has qualified for the Division I State Meet in the 800m run and as part of the 4×800 relay team.
