The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
Ellie : Won both GCC Golf tournaments in the month of August! She won the first one by 4 shots. Then she won the second GCC Tournament by 13 shots. In the month of August, she had 3 wins with a 76.0 average. She also broke the school record for an 18-round individual final score 3 times. She led the school record-breaking team score 323 at Old Avalon. Brandon : In a 4-0 Victory over Mentor, he had a goal and an assist! Then versus Olmsted Falls, he scored the game-tying goal in a 1-1 final score!
Kaya : 2 goals and 1 assist in the home opener vs Valley Forge! E’Mere : 175 Yards Rushing and 2 TD’s, 80 Yards receiving and 1 TD!
Tyla : Had over 30 saves in her first game at goalie against Shaker Heights. Cephrem : Scored all three goals in the first win of the season over Akron Firestone.
Caroline : is a senior captain and has scored 10 goals in the first 5 games of the season. She has made a verbal commitment to the University of Dayton. Eli is averaging 76.6 shots per round and earned medalist honors by 3 shots at the 2nd GCC Tournament at Good Park.
Mackenzie : She is the cardinals center midfielder, leading the team in the attack and defense. She regularly leads the team in completed passes and steals. She currently has 2 goals on the season including the game-winner vs Green. Derek : The senior goalkeeper has 3 shut outs on the season including a conference tie with Strongsville.
Grace : Grace Kaelber is off and running at the start of the 2024 XC season, taking 1st place in each of her first two races – at the Solon Comets Invitational and at the Avon Lake Early Bird Invitational. Grace is a standout student-athlete who meets with an extremely high level of success in the classroom and on the course. Great job, Grace! Cornell : Senior running back Cornell Beard is off to a hot start to the 2024 football season, helping lead the Raiders to a 2-0 start with wins vs. Willoughby South and Brush. In his first two games, Cornell has gained 330 yards from scrimmage with 5 rushing TDs and 1 receiving TD. Cornell continues to show why he’s one of the best football players in the state of Ohio. Keep up the great work, Cornell!
Charlotte : Charlotte started out the season going 7-0 in dual matches at 2nd singles in August as well as placing third at 1st Doubles at the Medina Doubles Tournament. At 2nd singles, Charlotte started the season with a 6-0,6-1 win over Beaumont and a 6-4,6-4 victory over Wadsworth before clinching a win 3-2 over Revere with a 7-6(7-3),7-6(7-5) win with the team score tied 2-2. She also had wins over Midview (6-0,6-0), Lakewood (6-3,6-0), Mentor (6-3,6-3) and Shaker Heights (6-0,6-3). At the Medina Doubles tournament she teamed up with Mallory Koch, defeating Wooster 6-0,6-1 before falling to eventual champion Highland in the semifinals and defeating Medina 5-7,6-1,1-0(13-11) in the third place match. Mallory : Mallory has kicked off the 2024 by going 6-1 at 1st singles in addition to a 3rd place finish at 1st doubles at the Medina Doubles Tournament. She began the season with wins over Beaumont (6-0,6-1), Wadsworth (6-1,6-3) and Revere (6-2,6-3) before falling to an undefeated Midview. Mallory then won over Lakewood (6-0,6-3), Mentor (6-0,6-1) and Shaker Heights (6-1,6-2). At the Medina Doubles Tournament Mallory teamed up with Charlotte Grauel to defeat 6-0,6-1 before falling to eventual champion Highland in the semifinals. The duo clinched third place with a 5-7,6-1,1-0(13-11) victory over Medina.
