GCC DECEMBER ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

 

Lillian Giacomazza: At GCC Meet, she was 1st in 100 butterfly, 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, and 3rd in the 50 freestyle. Carter Wickes: The freshman had a solid start to his varsity career! At the North Coast Classic he placed 5th, at the Solon Comet Classic he placed 3rd, and at the Medina Invitational he placed 5th!
Ray Shapiro: 1st – Floor, 1st – Beam, 2nd – Bars, 3rd – Vault, 1st Overall at SLCB meet. Jayquan Stubbs: 14.9 Points Per Game, 8.9 Rebounds Per Game, 74% Free Throw
Millie was one of the top competitors on the swim team in December. She finished first in 100 yard breaststroke vs Cleveland Heights, first in the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle vs Bedford, and first in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke vs Brush. Thai was the leading scorer in December, averaging over 28 points a game. He had a season high of 46 points in our win over Mayfield.
Olivia has helped lead the Bees to a 9-1 record so far this season and a current MaxPreps rating of #5 in Ohio Division I. She is averaging 21.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.1 steals, 4.9 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. Olivia set new personal highs earlier this season with 12 rebounds in a game and then 12 steals in a game. Additionally, she broke Medina High School’s all-time scoring record on December 3rd vs Shaker Heights. Cliff finished the month of December with an incredible 19-1 record that included a remarkable 18 pins. He was crowned champion at the Edison Invitational, the Kilted Klassic, and the Hudson Holiday Tournament. His only defeat came in a close championship match at the Medina Invitational Tournament (MIT) to finish runner-up. He is currently ranked 10th in the state of Ohio for his weight class.
Nina: Early on in the season, Nina led the team in Steals, Rebounds, Assists, Deflections, and Points. She also only had 3 turnovers Through 5 matches, Logan is averaging 204 a game. Logan: At the GCC Invite, Logan led the team with a 415 series and helped the Cards secure a 2nd place victory on the day.
Lizzy Favret: is a 4 year Varsity player who has committed to the University of Milwaukee Wisconsin to further her Basketball and academic careers. In the last 2 GCC games, Lizzy has totaled 41 rebounds. Cleveland Heights (20 Rebounds) Mentor (21 Rebounds) and in the month of December (6 games), Lizzy is averaging 17.2 Points, 14.3 Rebounds, 4.1 Steals, and 2.2 Blocks. Congrats to Lizzy Favret! Liam Coffey: works extremely hard every day at practice. He is one of the most consistent in effort in the weight room and in the pool. He is a great leader on the team, encouraging his teammates every day. Liam won the 100 fly and 500 free individual events vs our season opener vs. Mentor. He qualified for finals at the Jim Stacy HS Winter champs in the 200 Medley Relay, 100 butterfly, and the 400 Free Relays (with a lifetime best 100 split). Congrats, Liam Coffey!
