GCC FEBRUARY ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Marisa: Went 30-4 during the regular season! She also advanced to the OHSAA State Tournament and finished 8th overall! Sean: For the 2024-2025 he averaged 21.2 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game, 2.9 steals per game, and 2 assists per game. He was also named OHSAA First Team All-District!
Robbie: 20pts scored in a District Final Game! Jack: Sectional Champ in the 100yd Breaststroke
Shamaiia was our top girls bowler this season and was named the GCC Girls Bowler of the Year! At the last conference tournament she bowled an average of 181 and represented Euclid at the OHSAA District Bowling Tournament. Mike was our top boys bowler this season and was named the GCC Boys Bowler of the Year! At the last conference tournament he bowled an average of 197 and represented Euclid at the OHSAA District Bowling Tournament.
Anna finished in 5th place on the balance beam at the OHSAA Division I State Gymnastics Meet with a score of 9.425. She also tied for 12th place on floor exercise with a 9.325, was 13th place in the all-around at 36.5, and placed in the top 15 on the vault with a 9.025. She is now a 3-time state qualifier in nine (9) individual events. Anna finished in 2nd place in the all-around at the GCC Championship Meet and also earned All-GCC honors on the balance beam and on floor exercise. Kellen medaled in two events at the OHSAA Division I State Swimming Meet. He finished 6th place in the 200-yard freestyle and also finished 7th place in the 100-yard freestyle. He was also District Champion the week before in the 100 freestyle at Bowling Green. It was a fitting way to culminate a tremendous high school career that included numerous All-GCC and All-County accolades.
Coral: ALL GCC on Beam and Floor and was the GCC Floor Champion! State qualifier on Beam 9.3 All district on floor top 10 9.2, Senior meet all around champion! Jack: For the month of February: 15 points per game 6.3 assists per game 4.5 rebounds per game 2.5 steals per game For the season: 11 points per game 7 assists per game 3.2 rebounds per game 3.1 steals per game!
Anna Kuhel is a senior Girls Swimmer at Shaker Heights HS and had an impressive February. She finished 2nd in the 200 IM and won the 500 Free at the OHSAA Mayfield Sectional at Spire Institute. The next week, Anna finished 3rd at the OHSAA Northeast D1 District Championship to earn an automatic qualification to the State meet in the 200 IM. She won the 500 Free at the District Championship, which also earned her a spot at the state meet. She was also on the state qualifying 400 Free Relay team which finished in 3rd place at the District meet. At the state meet in Canton, Anna qualified for the consolation finals in both the 200 IM and 500 Free earning her ALL OHIO honors in both events. Great job, Anna! Senior Boys Basketball player John Horn had a tremendous month of February for the Raiders, helping to lead a resurgence that saw the Raiders advance to the OHSAA Regional Tournament. John had 22 points in a GCC road win @ Euclid and 28 points @ Rocky River to help pace the Raiders to their strongest month of the season. John continues to be a leader on and off the court. Great job, John!
Sidney broke the “most assist in a game” record with 13 in our game against Euclid. While breaking that record, Sidney is averaging 15 points per game. She has led the Mustangs to a second-time conference championship and a district championship this season.
