The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
Ellie: Shoot a 4-under 68 at Grey Hawk (school record & medalist), shoot a 74 at Big Met (medalist), 1-under at Big Met (medalist) while leading the Devils to 1st place in the GCC event, and was the Medina Gazette athlete of the week. Tommy is off to a tremendous start this fall. He posted a cross county best time of 16:18.9 in the Party at the Polo Fields. This time still stands as the best time this year for a Medina County boys cross country runner!Emma, only a freshman, helped the varsity girls soccer team to a 2-0-1 record in the month of August. She scored 2 goals against Brecksville-Broadview Heights in her first varsity match ever and followed it up by scoring 2 goals against Walsh Jesuit, the Division I State Runners-up from last season. Trent has had a tremendous start to his high school career in just the month of August. The freshman made his high school debut at the Polar Bear Invitational and shot a 2-under-par 69. He followed that up with a 1-over-par 72 at the Walker Jones Classic and added a 2-under-par 70 at Pine Hills. In the first GCC tournament of the season at Grey Hawk, he earned medalist honors with a 68 and set the MHS school record for low score in a round of 18 holes.Nina averaged a 45.6 per 9 holes over the last month. She has a career best 40 and 90 in the Medina invitational. Carter shot a 75 and tied for medalist honors in the 3rd GCC tournament. He has been in the top 4 in all 3 GCC tournaments and is averaging 37.4 for his 9 hole matches!Ameya Bole is a freshman and standout tennis player with an impressive competitive record and a bright future in the sport. Representing Shaker, she lost only one match throughout her entire middle school career — a testament to her consistency, discipline, and competitive spirit. Currently ranked #2 in Northeast Ohio in the USTA 14 & Under division, Ameya holds a strong 9-4 match record. 12 of these matches being 1st singles. She began playing tennis at the age of three and has grown into one of the region’s most promising junior athletes. With her early success, passion for the game, and well-rounded interests, Ameya Bole is a rising star to watch in high school and junior tennis. Ben: The junior has been a stalwart on the Raiders defense in the month of August, pacing the team with 30 total tackles (7 solo, 23 assisted), 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble. Ben is an outstanding contributor on and off the field.Mallory has started the season with an 18-2 record at 1st singles for the Mustangs including a perfect record in the conference. Highlights include wins over Wooster, Westlake, Jackson, Revere, Shaker Heights and Toledo Notre Dame Academy in dual matches and 1st place finishes at the Medina Doubles Tournament and Highland Invitational. At the Medina Doubles Tournament Koch and partner Charlotte Grauel led the team to a 2nd place finish with straight set wins over Wadsworth, Wooster and Highland at 1st doubles. At the Highland Invitational Koch helped the team to a 3rd place finish by winning the 1st singles flight with straight set wins over a pair of 2024 district qualifiers from Toledo Notre Dame Academy and Highland. Kendrick Boddie’s stat line during the month of August: 488 yards rushing with 6 rushing touchdowns and 1 receiving touchdowns!
