GCC SEPTEMBER ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

Julianna: Adversity struck the Blue Devil’s girls tennis team the week of sectionals, and sophomore Julianna Ulm found herself in a position in which she was asked to compete at the highest level. Ulm played her best tennis on day 1 of the sectional tournament and played her way into day 2. After a successful sophomore season, Julianna has tremendous momentum as she looks forward to next fall. Eli: With 4 rushing touchdowns in the month of September, Eli has paced the Blue Devils which included 3 wins in the GCC. He had 3 sacks and 10 TFLs in the month, including the game clinching stop in the backfield with 16 seconds left in the 4th Q and the ball on the 2 yard line against Euclid.
Kassadi Thompson, XC, 3rd place at GCC Championship and new school record of 18:44! Harry Tugeau, Boys Golf, 8th place at Sectional Tournament!
Kei’Shjaun is a two way player and one of the leaders on our football team. In September, he led the team in receiving yards with 285 yards and 4 touchdown receptions in 3 games. He had a season high 167 receiving yards against Shaker Heights. He also had 5 interceptions on defense, including one ran back for a touchdown.
Ci’Ana is currently leading her team in kills, kill percentage, and blocks. She is currently ranked in the top 15 in OH D1 stats for blocks(53) and ranked #2 in the GCC for blocks (53).
Corinne led the team in low scoring during the month of September. She also earned All-Greater Cleveland Conference honors for her play during the league tournaments. Bennett has been rock solid in the goal for the Battling Bees all season. The senior captain, and returning Greater Akron Goalkeeper of the Year, has posted seven (7) shutouts and saved two (2) penalty kicks so far this season. He is also very dangerous serving set pieces and has recorded two assists. Bennett has been a huge reason for the team’s success this season and has proven himself to be one of the top goalkeepers in the state.
Lyla plays holding Midfielder for the Cardinals and leads almost every game in completed passes! She currently has 2 goals and 6 assists on the season! Rapolas led the Cards with 4 goals and 4 assists in the month of September!
Lila: Junior girls soccer player Lila Brinkley has been working hard in the classroom, weight room, and on the soccer pitch as a valued member of the Girls Soccer program. Lila earned the school’s “Iron Raider of the Month” award for September as a testament to her dedication to excellence in our Strength & Conditioning program. She is a valued contributor to the Girls Soccer program serving as a captain on the Junior Varsity team this season and earning Varsity time as well. Jacire: After changing positions, Jacire Eaddy (Class of 2026) exhibited excellent leadership and maturity by spending extra time before and after practice learning the playbook from the WR position and learning how to run routes. Because of this, Jacire earned a spot as one of our team captains. Stats for September Passing 1/1 – 43 yards – 1 TD Rushing 9 – 40 yards Receiving 19 – 319 yards!
Payton: Junior standout Payton Beard, has been unstoppable at the net, earning recognition as one of the premier hitters in the state. Beard currently ranks #1 in the Greater Cleveland Conference, #4 in Division I, and #53 overall in Ohio. In addition to her dominant play, Beard set the Strongsville school record for career kills — as only a junior, a testament to her consistency, work ethic, and offensive firepower. Leo: Senior forward Leo Morana, put together one of the most dominant months in program history, scoring 12 goals and adding 2 assists to lead the Mustangs to a perfect 8–0 record in September. Morana’s month was highlighted by a record-breaking six-goal performance in a victory over Riverside — setting a new Strongsville single-game scoring record. His relentless attack, leadership, and finishing touch have been instrumental in propelling the Mustangs to one of their best starts in recent years.
