The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
Emerson: A 4 year varsity starter, Emerson led the GCC with a .348 hitting percentage (as a setter), 470 assists, and 188 digs. She is the heart and soul of the 2025 Blue Devil volleyball program. Eli: On 10/11, Eli earned his 8th clean sheet of the season as the senior goal keeper for the Devils. Eli is now the school record holder for clean sheets in a season with 29!Throughout October, Taaj stood out as a calm and reliable leader on the back line. His awareness, strong positioning, and smart decision making helped keep the defense organized and difficult to break down. Taaj’s composure under pressure and consistent play made him a key part of the team’s success to end the season.Alexis finished in 21st place overall at the OHSAA Division I State Championship Meet to earn 2nd Team All-Ohio honors. The week before at the Regional Meet she helped her team qualify by finishing in 5th place overall. Alexis also earned All-GCC accolades by finishing in 2nd place and runner-up at the Greater Cleveland Conference Championship Meet while leading the team to a league title. Cooper scored the game-winning goal against Brunswick that would eventually help the team stay on pace to win the Greater Cleveland Conference title. He also scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 comeback victory over GlenOak in the Division I District Final and scored a goal against Canton McKinley in the District Semifinal match. Cooper earned All-GCC Honorable Mention honors while finishing with 8 goals and 6 assists this season.Kayden: This past month Kayden had 70 kills, 70 digs, 10 blocks and 10 aces! Matthew: Legends Meet finished 2nd overall with a time of 16:01, GCC Champion with a time of 15:58 and Regional Runner Up with a time of 15:54!Nina Yacovone (Class of 2027) was named All-Ohio and Player of the Year for the Northern Ohio Field Hockey League. Nina helped lead the Raiders to an undefeated regular season (20-0) and is one of the top Field Hockey players in the state of Ohio. She is committed to Miami University where she will continue her academic and athletic careers. Congrats to Nina on a tremendous season. Junior Beag Davis (Football, Wrestling, Track) was named Iron Raider of the Month for October for his hard work in the Raider Athletic Center. Beag is a valued member of the SHHS Football, Wrestling, and Track teams and had an awesome October on the field on the defensive side of the football and in Raider Nation representing the very best of our athletic community. Keep up the great work, Beag!Hannah: GCC Champion, OHSAA Regional Champion, and qualified for the State Meet! At the State Meet Hannah finished 4th overall with a time of 17:53.96. During the season she won 6 meets. Austin is a senior captain of our football team. In the month of October, Austin help lead our team as a defensive lineman that had 21 tackles, 9 sacks, and 11 TFLs. His ability to stop the run and rush the passer really made the front dominant. On top of that, as a student athlete he finished our first quarter with over a 4.0 GPA. It is important to not be great on the field but making an impact off the field in the community and classroom.
