The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
Alex has continued her impressive season in year two of her diving career by taking first place at the GCC meet and breaking her own school record for 11 dives. Alex was a gymnast that decided to start diving last season, and has since broken nearly every school record for diving at Brunswick! Trey Drexler became the all-time leading scorer in Brunswick boys basketball history earlier this month in an overtime win vs. Medina. A 4 year starter and 2024-25 Mr. Ohio finalist, Trey is in the top 10 in the area in scoring average this season and has led the Blue Devils to a 10-2 record to this point.Dayvon: During the month of December, Dayvon averaged 15 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals per game and also shot 40% from the 3 point line! Noah averaged 13.5 points per game, 9 rebounds a game and 2.3 assists per game during the month of December. He also helped lead Cleveland Hts to a 4-1 start during the month of December.Abby scored a career-high 27 points vs Cleveland Heights on 12/20 and recorded her 500th career point vs North Buncombe, NC on 12/31. She also jumped to #3 in school history for 3-pointers made in a career during this game. Abby was named Medina County Player of the Week for the week of December 22nd. In the month of December, she averaged 12.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.5 apg, and 1.5 spg. She shot 54% from the field, 32% from beyond the 3-point arc, and 80% from the free throw line. Garrett shot 61% from the field and 70% from the free throw line. He averaged 16.2 points per game and recorded 50 rebounds, 26 assists, and 10 blocked shots. Garrett also scored the game-winning layup as time expired to lift the team to a thrilling 60-59 victory over Marysville at Holiday Hoopla in Columbus. He scored 18 points and was named MVP of the game!Nina scored 23 or more points in the first five games and averaged 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 3.4 steals in that span. She is shooting 50% from two and 38.5% from three and has helped the Cardinals start 3-0 in the GCC. David: In the Bowlers Choice tournament in Wickliffe, David led the Cardinals with a 631 series, which earned him a 6th place spot on the All Tournament Team. For the season, he is averaging 194 through 12 games helping the Cards who are 2-1 in match play.Sophomore Girls Basketball standout, Oceanne Kabore, is a first year varsity starter who in the month of December averaged 10.0 points 10 rebounds 2.0 steals. Her strongest game was vs GCC rival Cleveland Heights in which Oceanne scored 13 points 18 rebounds 3 steals. Keep up the great work, Oceanne! Junior swimmer, Louisa Holda, had a December to remember. She competed at the 2025 Speedo Winter Jr Championships in Indianapolis, IN, against top talent from around the country. Louisa also gained recognition from USA Swimming as a Scholastic All-American for her efforts in the classroom and water. According to USA Swimming, “the list [of All-American selections] consists of 1,741 athletes in grades 9-12 who maintained a minimum 3.5 grade point average (GPA) and met any of the competition criteria during the qualifying period of September 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025. Finally, Louisa earned a podium performance at the Winter Championships at SPIRE Institute. Keep up the great work, Louisa!Sidney is averaging 20 points per game, broke the school record for most points scored in a game with 39 points and is leading the team in assists and steals.
