Greater Cleveland Conference January Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

GCC January Athletes Of The Month

Camryn is one of the Mustangs two senior captains and a three year letter winner. In the first home meet of the season, Camryn led the Mustangs to a victory over Brunswick and individually won Vault, Bars, and the All-Around. She helped contribute solid scores on Vault and Bars at the GCC Invitational, where the Mustangs finished 3rd overall!
On Friday, January 22nd, in a 97-61 victory over Open Door Christian, Justin broke the Strongsville single game scoring record as he finished the night with 52 points. He also tied the school record for three-pointers made in the game with 9. Justin is currently averaging 18 points a game this season!
Earlier this month in an 81-41 victory over Euclid, Regan scored 22 points! Along with being a team captain, Reagan maintains a cumulative 4.5 GPA. Reagan will continue her athletic career and play at The University of Akron next year!
On Saturday, January 9th at the GCC Championship Meet, Andrew was Champion in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay. Then on January 19th against Solon, he won the 200 Medley Relay, 50 Free, 100 Backstroke, and 400 Free Relay. Next year, Andrew will continue his athletic career and swim at Cleveland State University!
At the GCC Gymnastics Championships, Emma finished 3rd overall on Vault, 3rd overall on Bars, and finished 4th overall in the All-Around. Emma helped lead her team to a 3rd place overall team finish! Emma is also a team captain.
Marcus is a 3 year starter along with being a team captain! He is currently averaging 18.7 points a game.
At the GCC Swimming Championships, Grace finished 1st in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 58.85 and 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:09.38!
William’s dedication and hard work at practice paid off at the GCC Swimming Championships. He set personal best times in all events leading to a 2nd place finish in the 100 Butterfly.
Luke is averaging 25.8 points a game, 7.8 assists a game, 4.5 rebounds a game, and 2.8 steals a game while leading Mentor to a 4-0 start of the season. During the game against Warren Harding, Luke scored his 1,000th career point!
Ainsley has consistently placed in the top 3 at all of her meets so far this season hitting personal best scores! In the month of January, she had the following scores: • January 3rd: Beam-9.0 1st, Floor-8.75 3rd, and All Around-33.45 2nd. • January 5th: Beam-9.1 1st, and Floor-8.85 2nd. • January 16th: Floor-9.25 1st, All Around-34.3 3rd. Ainsley also recently received the News Herald player of the week honors.
Nick is currently undefeated on the season in which he beat the number 1 ranked wrestler at 113 pounds in Division 2. He is currently ranked 5th in the state in his weight class!
Corey is averaging 24.7 points a game, 4.5 assists a game, 3 rebounds a game, and 1.5 steals a game while leading Medina to a 10-3 start of the season while going 4-1 in GCC play. On Friday, January 22nd, Corey scored his 1,000th career point! He became the 9th player in Medina High School history to reach 1,000 points.
Jenna bowls with the varsity boys bowling team. She rolled a 471 series against Brunswick. She also rolled a 603 series to help lead the team to a 3rd Place finish at the G-Men Classic. She also helped lead the Bees to victory over Elyria, Solon, and Euclid with series of 446, 416, and 415, respectively.
At the GCC Swimming Championships, Kate finished 2nd in the 500 Free with a time of 5:34.52. Kate is also a team captain and on the season she has 6 Individual wins out of a possible 6 races along with 11 wins with a Relay team out of 12 races!
In back-to-back wins over Brush and Strongsville Sarah totaled 34 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 blocks. She is currently the school’s 3rd leading scorer and number one in Free Throws Made. She recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play Basketball at Ashland University next year!
Alexis is leading the Panthers in scoring at 14.3 points per game so far this season. She is nearly averaging a double-double with 14.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Over the first 6 games of the season, Clayton is averaging 17.5 points per game. He had a season team-high 27 points in Euclid’s first win of the year vs. NDCL. He also recorded a double-double in a GCC win vs. Elyria.
So far this season, Aiden bowled a 414 series against Clearview High School and had two other 400 series! He anchored the team several times this year as a freshman. He also leads the team with a game high season score of 257!
Colin is 17-3 so far this season. Eight of his seventeen wins by fall. Fourteen of his seventeen wins have all been bonus point wins. He helped the team clinch dual meet wins vs. Division 2 #4 Ranked Lake Catholic, and Division 3 #2 Ranked Milan Edison.
MarSaun is averaging 12.8 points a game, 3.7 assists a game, 2.5 steals a game, and 3.5 rebounds a game!
Riley was the 106 lbs- Champion at Shelley Ruberg Girls Tournament, and runner-up at the Heart of Ohio Tournament. She also had a key role in the team’s victory vs. Division 2 #4 Ranked Lake Catholic.
On January 6th, in a 2734-2635 victory over Medina, Jordan was the star of the night. Shooting only the 3rd Perfect Game in school history, Tucker helped the Blue Devils sweep the season series from the Medina Bees. In the month of January Jordan also had game-high scores of 244 in a victory over Solon and a 251 in a victory over Elyria!
Currently, Journey has 215 points on the season and is averaging 14.3 points a game! In a 61-49 victory over Mentor Journey had 16 points. Then on January 18th in a 49-37 victory over Euclid, Journey had 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block.
On Saturday, January 2nd, in a 56-51 victory over Highland, Tre scored 26 points. Tre entered the night with 999 career points. He became the 6th player in Brunswick School history to eclipse 1,000 career points. In the month of January, he helped lead the Blue Devils to an 8-3 record while averaging 25.3 points a game.
On Saturday, January 16th in a Tri-Meet vs. Mentor and Buckeye, Jordyn won Senior Night scoring three out of four events with a 9.5 or higher. She finished in first place in the All-Around Competition. At the GCC Gymnastics Championships, Jordyn finished 2nd overall on Vault, tied for 5th overall on Bars, finished 4th overall on Beam, and finished 2nd overall on Floor. Jordyn finished Runner-Up in the All-Around Competition as she helped lead her team to a GCC Championship victory and earning Brunswick a 2020-2021 GCC Gymnastics Co-Championship!
