Greater Cleveland Conference May Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

At the GCC Track and Field Championships, Madison finished 1st in the Discus event and 2nd in the Shot Put event. Madison was also named the 2021 GCC Track Field MVP. At the OHSAA Track and Field State Meet, Madison finished in 5th place in the Shot Put event!
Finn pitched in seven games this season and started six of those games. He had just over 30 innings of work this season against some of the best competition the Battling Bees faced. He finished the season with a record of 6-0 and only allowed 2 earned runs. He took a 0.00 ERA into his final start of the season and finished with a spectacular 0.46 ERA for the year. The vast majority of his work came against talented teams in the Greater Cleveland Conference. When he wasn’t pitching he played first base or was the designated hitter. He finished with a .229 average with one double and seven RBIs!
Valerie qualified for three (3) events at the State Track Meet. She was the District and Regional Champion in the 800m race. She was also part of two (2) District and Regional Championship relay teams (4×800 and 4×400)!
In the month of May, Tyler had 10 Goals, 14 Assists, and had a .635 Faceoff win percentage. Tyler is an outstanding student athlete as he is one of the Cardinals Team Captains and he has a 4.2 GPA.
Played in 14 games, averaging 3 goals, 3 ground balls, and 5 draw controls per game!
Charlie was a captain on the Comets 2021 League Co-Championship team. He led the Comets in Goals scored along with setting a school record scoring 11 goals in a game!
Angelene has been a true leader for the Comets Softball Program as a 4 year letter winner. During the month of May, she batted .481 from her leadoff spot along with a .600 average with runners in scoring position.
John, is a sophomore and has grown throughout the season and has started to show leadership skills that a Junior or Senior would have. He has started in almost every game for the Mustangs this season and has been a huge part of our defenses success. In the month of May, against Olmsted Falls John had 2 ground balls and 4 turnovers. The other two games played this month were against Brunswick and Berea-Midpark where John racked up 8 ground balls. In the Mustangs 15 regular season games, John has had 34 ground balls and 20 turnovers.
Stephanie has been a big part of the Mustangs success in the post-season/second half of the year. During the past 5 games in the month of May, she hit .619 and also showed up big time in the playoffs. Against Lorain, she hit two home runs and brought in 5 RBIs. Against Brunswick, in the Sectional Final, she brought in 3 RBIs to contribute to the advancement to districts. Stephanie academically does very well as she carries a 4.3 GPA!
Emily had 16 goals and 13 assists in the month of May!
