The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.
GCC December Athletes Of The Month
In the month of December, Journey averaged 18.9 PPG, 6.87 RPG, and 2.5 APG!
In the month of December, Evan took 1st place at the Canton McKinley Invitational, the Northcoast Classic, and the Solon Comet Classic! Evan is currently 25-1 on the season!
Yajhaira is the leader and captain of the Panther girls’basketball team. She is leading the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game including a season-high 29 points against Eastlake North earlier this season.
Clayton is the leading scorer for the Panther basketball team in the Month of December. In the 4 games that he played, Clayton scored 35, 33, 16 (in only one quarter), and a career-high 41 points against Medina. Clayton averaged 31.2 points per game in the month of December.
Hailey is a 3-year letter winner and captain. She is averaging 12.8 points, 2.6 assists, 2.5 steals, 3.8 rebounds in 10 games this season as well as 83% from free throw line while playing 30 minutes per game. She has been named Medina Gazette Player of the Week, Beacon Journal Spotlight Athlete of the Week, and Jingle Bell Jam MVP already this season. Hailey hit the game-winning shot to defeat Wadsworth. She is closing in on her 500th career point.
Andrew wrestles in the 144 pound weight class. He opened the season with a 3rd Place finish at the Edison Invitational and has not lost since. He has also won the Kilted Klassic and the Hudson Holiday Tournament. He heads into the New Year with a 13-1 record with 8 pins!
Breanna had a solid month of December. Breanna had a team-high 14 points in a win over Lake Catholic and averaged 7.3 points per game throughout the month. Breanna leads the team in 3 point shots made. Breanna is averaging 7.2 ppg, 4.0 RPG, 1.4 APG, and 1.8 SPG.
Earlier this season, Caleb set the school record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.46! A record that stood for over 20 years. He led the Cardinals to a runner-up finish at the GCC Championship meet!
Julia has begun her Varsity career by improving each week. Personal bests were recorded in the HS Winter Championships in the 100 Free and 100 Breast along with competing in the 200 Medley!
Deon started the first month of the season leading the Comets in multiple categories averaging 22.0 pts, 6 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game!
Emma is a sophomore all around gymnast and a key member of the Strongsville High School gymnastics team. Emma helped lead the Mustangs to a victory in their first meet of the season and won beam at the Flip for a Cure Invitational. Emma continued her winning ways, by winning beam again with a 9.35 at a GCC dual meet against Medina High School.
In 7 games this year, Justin has averaged 17.3 points a game, shooting 25% from 3 point range, 71.4% from the Foul line. Justin has 21 assists on the season to go along with 33 rebounds. Justin led his team to a 2-1 record in the Strongsville Holiday tournament and has helped lead his team to a 6-5 overall record this season
