GCC December Athletes Of The Month

The Greater Cleveland Conference has a new program to recognize outstanding monthly performances by our GCC Athletes. Athletic Directors from the Greater Cleveland Conference will nominate student athletes from their school based on their monthly performances and accomplishments.

In the month of December, Journey averaged 23.7 pts, 5.8 rpg and 1.7 spg. So far this season Quinn is averaging 20.8 ppg, 2.6 apg and 3.3 rpg.
Robbie is averaging 13.8 PPG and 6.7 RPG. James: 2 game save percentage of 85%. 110 saves on 117 shots
E’Mari: Leads the team averaging 12.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in December. Career high 30 points in win over Lorain. Thai: Leads the team with 12.5 points per game and averaging 4.4 rebounds per game. Season high 33 points against Brunswick and led the team with 20 points against Gilmour.
Ella earned the honors of Greater Cleveland Conference Girls Diving Champion with a total score of 322.20 at the league meet (11 dives). She also was the winning diver at the Shaker Heights meet over winter break and has finished in 2nd place at Wooster and 3rd place against Westlake and Magnificat. Ella also competed in the Canton Christmas Invite, which was an 11-dive event, where she finished with a 277.80 score. Brock averaged 16 points per game in 3 Greater Cleveland Conference games. He also grabbed 16 rebounds and dished out 9 assists. He also had a field goal shooting percentage of 55%.
Maggie averaged 10.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.2 apg, 3 spg and shooting 87% from the free throw line. Maggie has led the team in steals and scoring over the first 4 games. Dylan Tackett has had 9 individual 1st place finishes so far in helping his team to a 6-0 dual meet record with wins over Perry, Shaker Hts, NDCL, Riverside, VASJ and Chardon.
Darby continues to excel in the water as a senior leader of the Girls Swimming team at Shaker Heights HS. At the Jim Stacy Invitational at SPIRE in December, Darby helped lead the Raiders by finishing 1st in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, as well as being a member of the 1st place 200M medley relay and 400 free relay teams. Darby will continue her academic and athletic career at Ohio University next year. Great job, Darby! Sammy Gerber is a senior co-captain and leader of the Shaker Heights HS ice hockey program. Sammy was recently named GLHL Player of the Week for his efforts on the ice, Sammy is an outstanding student-athlete who represents the very best of Shaker Heights on and off the ice. Congrats, Sammy!
Senior Emma Hahn started the season out strong in the first three meets. At the Flip for a Cure Invitational Emma won the vault event and placed second on beam, floor and in the all around. At the Strongsville senior night Emma continued to lead the way with victories on vault, floor and in the all around. She also placed second on bars and third on beam. At the winter GCC invitational Emma placed third on vault, second on bars, and was the Mustangs highest all around finisher in fourth place with a 36.5. Her scores have helped lead the Mustangs to their best December in over 10 years with victories at Flip for a Cure and senior night, and a season high 141.4 and runner up at the GCC invite.
